Online small business insurance supplier Insurantz.com is seeing a huge increase in entrepreneurs starting up Fast food outlets such as burger bars, and growth in the sector is out performing most of the other strong performing industries such as plumbers and construction sector.

But for those who are dreaming of firing up the grill and banging out burgers to the thronging masses, there are a few requirements which need to be considered before a customer can be served.  Apart from understanding food standards and hygiene legislation, it is necessary for catering facilities to have employer liability insurance and advisable to have public and product liability insurance to cover every eventuality and protect themselves from litigation and other costly problems.  And then, of course, accident, fire and theft insurance for the catering unit itself is essential in case the worst happening.

James Pickering, managing director of Insurantz.com, said: “We are seeing more and more caterers starting up.  It is an interesting trend we are seeing and perhaps defies current logic, dictated by economy.  Perhaps the catering sector is a real sign of economic ‘green shoots’, or perhaps everyone fancies themselves to be the new Jamie Oliver.  One thing is for sure, that the growth in popularity for Fast food outlets is definitely a sign of the times.”

James continued, “Compared to many industries the perceived training needed to run a fast food outlet is minimal.  However, like most careers, there is more to running any catering business than there seems.  The sector is very competitive, often seasonal and can be very hard work but the best of luck to all entrepreneurs’ willing to make a mark. We are seeing people of all ages and career backgrounds approaching us for quotes but as yet there is no real clear reason as to why the sudden popularity in this career.”
